I met a local Wedding and Family Celebrant today, who offers a unique service that fits in so brilliantly with Wilde Lodge and our approach to Weddings and Events.
Nowadays, a wedding is not the strictly traditional affair it used to be. Couples have a choice of saying “i do” at any licensed venue, at any time of day, and on and day of the week. The only part of this day that remains inflexible is the ceremony itself – ironically the most meaningful and important part of the day.
Using a wedding Celebrant allows you flexibility to choose your own style of wedding, vows, readings, poems, music, venue and anything else you fancy without restriction.
Wedding celebrants have been in existence for over 40 years – and although you must legally marry first at a registry office or church, you are free afterwards to design the wedding of your dreams.
I know many of my friends who have had a small family registry office service to legally marry and then used a celebrant to have their main wedding somewhere else. I like this balance. You get a grown up, small and official wedding first – (and if anything it allows you to practice saying these words to your partner) – with maybe a low key lunch afterwards. No white gowns, just a grown up and intimate affair. Then a couple of weeks later you have a huge wedding, in the venue of your dreams, with all the people you love and you use a Celebrant to arrange the day and your vows exactly as you want.
A huge incentive other than you really do then create your own wedding in front of all your friends and family, is that you can say your vows in the place of your dreams, how you want and in the order you want. And of course, get 2 weddings – anything to keep the celebrations going for as long as possible, in my book is a really good idea.
Come and visit Wilde Lodge and find out more about what we can offer and meet Helen, our Wedding Celebrant – and its also worth noting a celebrant can also do naming ceremonies and Vow Renewals too…..
