General Guideline To Help You Plan Your Trip

1- Flights / Airports

Closest “easy” airport to the venue:

- Birmingham (BHX) (usually the most convenient).

Also workable:

- Bristol (BRS), Liverpool (LPL), Manchester (MAN).

- London airports (LHR / LGW / LTN) can work too — just expect a longer onward trip.

Optional money-saving strategy

If you’re considering a Europe vacation anyway, it can sometimes be cheaper to:

1- Fly into a major hub like Dublin / Madrid / Barcelona, spend a few days, then

2- Fly onward to BHX (or another UK airport) on a low-cost carrier.

Tradeoffs: Separate tickets can mean you’re on the hook if the first flight is delayed, and budget airlines often charge for bags/seats.

2- For guests traveling from Mexico (avoiding the US)

If you don’t have a US visa, no problem! — just avoid itineraries that connect through the United States.

Common routes that usually work well:

- Mexico City (MEX) or MTY → Madrid (MAD) or Barcelona (BCN) → Birmingham (BHX)

- MEX or MTY → London (LHR/LGW) → BHX

- MEX or MTY → Paris (CDG) / Amsterdam (AMS) → BHX

Tip: when booking, set filters to “No US transit” and double-check the connection airport’s transit rules if it’s not Spain/UK.

3- Getting to Wilde Lodge

- Car rental (recommended): This is rural Wales — a car gives you the most flexibility.

- Taxi option: Taxis are available, but you’ll want to pre-book (especially

evenings/weekends). If you’re not renting a car, plan on taxiing to/from Knighton and budgeting extra time.

- Train option: Knighton has a train station (slow + scenic route).

meeting point during the weekend.

4- Passport + Entry Requirements (Important)

- Passport: Make sure it’s valid for the full trip — and check your country’s rules, since some passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates.

- US and Mexican passport holders: See the notes below — depending on your route and passport, you may need UK ETA (for the UK) and, if you enter the Schengen Area, EES at the border and ETIAS once it launches.

- UK entry permission (ETA): Many visa-free travellers now need a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter or even transit the UK. Check your nationality and apply using official UK guidance. Schengen / Europe (if you’re adding Europe travel):

- EES (Entry/Exit System): EES started rolling out on 12 October 2025 and is being introduced in phases through 10 April 2026 (so the experience can vary by country/airport). (reuters.com)

- If you enter the Schengen Area (e.g., Spain/France/Netherlands), the EU uses EES to digitally record your entry and exit. On your first Schengen border crossing you may be asked for a facial photo and fingerprints (then future crossings usually use biometrics + passport scan), and it replaces manual passport stamping. (reuters.com)

- Pre‑register option (where available): You can optionally pre-register your passport data and facial image using the official “Travel to Europe” mobile app before you reach the border. Availability varies by country and border point (some places may not support it yet). (travel-europe.europa.eu)

- ETIAS: Think of ETIAS as Europe’s version of ESTA — it’s a pre‑travel authorisation for travelers who normally don’t need a visa for short stays. It’s currently scheduled to start operations in the last quarter of 2026 (the EU will publish the exact start date a few months ahead). If it’s live before your Europe portion, you’ll need to apply online before traveling to the 30 participating European countries.

- It’s for short stays (up to 90 days in any 180‑day period) and does not guarantee entry (border officers still make the final call).

- Your approval is linked to your passport and is typically valid for multiple trips (up to 3 years or until your passport expires — whichever comes first).

- Most decisions are expected within minutes but allow extra time in case it requires additional checks.

- Official EU ETIAS info (use this, not third‑party sites): https://travel-europe.europa.eu/en/etias

- US travelers (optional): If you have Global Entry, it can make returning to the US smoother.

What to Wear (dressy, but practical)

- Dressy, but practical: the venue is mostly outdoors and the ground can be uneven.

- Bring a warm layer and a waterproof jacket— Wales in October loves a surprise. (“Optional” only if you enjoy being cold and slightly damp!).

- Footwear: skip thin heels (the ground may try to claim them). Block heels, wedges, or flats are your best friends.

House / Venue Rule (important)

All indoor areas are non‑smoking (including e‑cigarettes). If this rule is broken, £100 will be taken from the damage deposit.

Kids

Kids are welcome — just let us know so we can plan accordingly.

On-Site Vibe (Fire Pit + Games)

Wilde Lodge has lots of open space to spread out and hang together.

- There’s a fire pit — if the weather cooperates, we’ll light it up and may do s’mores.

- The venue provides garden games — we’ll have a few out for anyone who wants to play (no pressure, this is a celebration, not a tournament!). Examples of venue games: croquet, giant Jenga, boules, badminton, and a few others.

Guía General Para Planear Tu Viaje

1- Vuelos / Aeropuertos

Aeropuerto más práctico para llegar al venue:

- Birmingham (BHX) (normalmente el más conveniente). Otras opciones que también funcionan:

- Bristol (BRS), Liverpool (LPL), Manchester (MAN).

- Aeropuertos de Londres (LHR / LGW / LTN) también sirven — solo considera que el traslado será más largo. Estrategia opcional para ahorrar Si de todos modos quieres aprovechar para vacacionar en Europa, a veces sale más barato:

1) Volar a un hub grande como Dublín / Madrid / Barcelona, quedarte unos días, y después

2) Volar a BHX (u otro aeropuerto del Reino Unido) en una aerolínea de bajo costo.

Ojo: si compras boletos por separado, una demora en el primer vuelo puede dejarte sin el segundo, es mejor planear por si acaso y las aerolíneas de bajo costo suelen cobrar extra por equipaje/asientos.

2- Para Invitados Que Viajan Desde México (Evitando EE. UU.)

Si no tienes visa de Estados Unidos, no pasa nada! solo evita itinerarios que conecten por EE. UU. Rutas comunes que suelen funcionar bien:

- Ciudad de México (MEX) o MTY → Madrid (MAD) o Barcelona (BCN) → Birmingham (BHX).

- MEX o MTY → Londres (LHR/LGW) → BHX.

- MEX o MTY → París (CDG) / Ámsterdam (AMS) → BHX.

Tip: al reservar, usa el filtro de “Sin tránsito por EE. UU.” y revisa las reglas de tránsito del aeropuerto de conexión si no es España/Reino Unido.

3- Cómo Llegar a Wilde Lodge

- Renta de auto (recomendado): El venue está en Gales rural — con auto tienes mucha más libertad.

- Opción de taxi: Sí hay taxis, pero conviene reservar con anticipación (sobre todo noches/fines de semana). Si no rentas auto, planea moverte en taxi desde/hacia Knighton y considera un poco más de tiempo.

- Opción de tren: Knighton tiene estación (ruta lenta pero muy pintoresca).

* Transporte en grupo (posible): Tal vez podamos organizar traslados desde/hacia un punto de reunión durante el fin de semana.

Confirmaremos más adelante cuando sepamos dónde se está quedando la mayoría.

4- Pasaporte + Requisitos De Entrada (Importante)

- Pasaporte: Asegúrate de que esté vigente durante todo el viaje — y revisa las reglas de tu país, porque en algunos casos el pasaporte debe tener mínimo 6 meses de vigencia después de tus fechas de viaje.

- Pasaportes de EE. UU. y México: Dependiendo de tu ruta y tu pasaporte, puede que necesites UK ETA (para el Reino Unido) y, si entras al Área Schengen, EES en frontera y ETIAS cuando se lance.

- Permiso de entrada al Reino Unido (ETA): Muchos viajeros que antes entraban sin visa ahora necesitan una UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) para entrar o incluso transitar por el Reino Unido. Revisa tu nacionalidad y solicita por los canales oficiales. Schengen / Europa (si planeas viajar a otras partes de Europa):

- EES (Entry/Exit System): El EES empezó a implementarse el 12 de octubre de 2025 y se está introduciendo por fases hasta el 10 de abril de 2026 (así que la experiencia puede variar según el país/aeropuerto). (reuters.com).

- ETIAS: Piensa en ETIAS como la versión europea de ESTA — es una autorización previa de viaje para personas que normalmente no necesitan visa para estancia cortas. Por ahora, está previsto que inicie operaciones en el último trimestre de 2026 (la UE publicará la fecha exacta con anticipación). Si ya está activo cuando viajes por Europa, tendrás que solicitarlo en línea antes de viajar a los 30 países participantes.

- Aplica a estancias cortas (hasta 90 días en cualquier periodo de 180 días) y no garantiza la entrada (migración siempre tiene la decisión final).

- La aprobación queda ligada a tu pasaporte y normalmente es válida para múltiples viajes (hasta 3 años o hasta que venza tu pasaporte — lo que ocurra primero).

Qué Ponerte (No Súper Elegante, Pero Práctico)

- No súper elegante, pero práctico: el venue es mayormente al aire libre y el piso puede ser irregular.

- Lleva un layer calientito y una chamarra impermeable — en octubre, Gales ama sorprender. ("Opcional" solo si te gusta pasar frío y medio mojado!).

- Calzado: evita tacones delgaditos (el terreno puede “adoptarlos”). Mejor tacón ancho, wedges o flats.

Regla de la Casa / del Venue (Importante)

Todas las áreas interiores son libres de humo (incluye e‑cigarettes). Si se rompe esta regla, se descontarán £100 del depósito por daños.

Niños

Los niños son bienvenidos — solo avísanos para poder planear bien.

Ambiente En El Lugar (Fogata + Juegos) Wilde Lodge tiene muchísimo espacio abierto para convivir, relajarse y disfrutar.

- Hay fire pit — si el clima coopera, la prendemos y puede haber s’mores.

- El venue proporciona juegos de jardín — vamos a sacar algunos para quien quiera jugar (cero presión: es celebración, no competencia!). Ejemplos de juegos del venue: croquet, Jenga gigante, boules, badminton, y algunos más.
